Vina Cobos Bramare Malbec, Chanares Estate
Deep purple red with black tones. Spiced and mineral characters. Scents of blue fruit and figs mixed with spiced notes. Aromas reminiscent of cinnamon, cloves, wild thyme and fresh tobacco. On the palate it shows intensity and energy with muscular, textural tannins.Â
VineyardÂ
Chanares Estate 3,888ft. Spur pruned bilateral cordon. Drip irrigation. Northern exposure with a west-east slope of 2.7 degrees favours air circulation and sanitary conditions in the vineyard.Â
Well drained alluvial soil with medium sized pebbles along the soil profile.Â
Growing SeasonÂ
This season was influenced by La Nina and consequently it was significantly drier in contrast to the 2016 growing season. In spring the average temperatures were lower than historical, registering four events of late frosts that affected yields. February started fresh and rainy, delaying the harvest, starting finally on February 16th and ending on April 20th. Good weather conditions during harvest season allowed us harvesting grapes of excellent quality and health conditions.Â
Aging & BottlingÂ
Aged for 18 months in new French oak (53%) in combination with second use oak (47%). Bottled in November 2018. Unfined and unfiltered.Â
