Gwyr Gin The Greatest Try London Dry Gin by Sir Gareth Edwards

The Greatest Try; one of the greatest Rugby Union tries ever scored.

It was 1973 and the Barbarians were playing the New Zealand All-Blacks in Cardiff. Early in the game the ball is kicked to Phil Bennett who stoops to collect it; the sweeping move that follows ends with the ball in the hands of Sir Gareth Edwards and has been voted perhaps the Greatest Try ever scored; and in the words of the commentator Cliff Morgan….

“A dramatic start! What a score!”

The Greatest Try Gin, individually numbered and autographed by Sir Gareth Edwards, is presented in a commemorative box and is a fitting memento of this amazing try.

The London Dry Gin is made with 15 botanicals to represent the 15 players in a rugby team and the union of rugby playing countries all over the world. Bara Brith spices from Sir Gareth Edwards’ Wales blend with those from 11 other countries to commemorate a unique event:

The Greatest Try Gin.

Produced as a collaboration between Sir Gareth, his family and the Gower Gin Company this commemorative gin depicts an original painting by Elin Siân Blake of Sir Gareth scoring his spectacular try. The label and box colours represent the Barbarians team that Sir Gareth was playing for and his home club, Cardiff.
